PEFC in China

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) set up its China office in Beijing in October 2007. Its main functions are: supporting and promoting sustainable forestry operations in China; improving perceptions of PEFC forest certification in the Chinese market; promoting PEFC certification of production and chain of custody as a tool for market promotion and access; enhancing cooperation with China’s forestry and forest product sector; and providing markets with PEFC certification information and technical support. On 5 February 2014, the China Forest Certification Council (CFCC) officially reached mutual acceptance with PEFC. By December 2017, PEFC had certified8.16 million hectares of forest and issued331 production and chain of custody certificates.
