Act on the sustainable use of wood import provisions (South Korea)

The Act on the Sustainable Use of Timbers of December 2016 includes provisions on countermeasures against illegally felled timber. The Act requires the State and local governments to establish and implement measures to prevent distribution or use of timber illegally felled inside or outside South Korea. Article 45 of the Act outlines penalties for various offenses. As of June 2018, South Korea had entered into eight multilateral forest cooperation agreements, and 15 bilateral forest cooperation agreements.
