China Started Revising Law on the Protection of Wildlife


Legislative Affairs Commission, Standing Committee of National People’s Congress has arranged related authorities and professional agencies to revise Law of Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Protection of Wildlife, intending to tighten the control of wildlife management in China. 

The spread of the novel coronavirus reveals that there are severe problems in China’s current system on wildlife protection and management. As was emphasized by Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on 3rd February 2020, it is urgent to crack down on illegal wildlife trade in order to effectively control the risk of public health, by strengthening the legal system construction of public health. 

The 13th Standing Committee of National People’s Congress will evaluate and discuss the proposal on prohibiting illegal wildlife trade and protecting wildlife from being eaten, effectively safeguarding public health.
