Russia¡¯s borders closure affects timber prices in China

Russia has closed its borders since 30 March 2020. The prices of logs and sawn wood in Manchuria, Erenhot, Suifenhe and cities along the Belt and Road increased by 50-200 yuan per cubic meter as a response to this blockade policy.
There are several reasons for the increase in timber prices in China. Firstly, timber harvesting and transportation in many timber producing countries have been suspended due to border closures duringCOVID-19.. Secondly, China’s domestic demand for timber has reached a new height due to the resumption of work and production.
